Ringo Starr Turns 70 Today

Beatle Ringo Starr turned 70 years old today.  True, he's a bit older than a Baby Boomer, but he certainly was a big part of many of their lives growing up.  His drumming for the Beatles was an integral part of the music that so many Baby Boomers have played throughout their lives.  His colorful obsession with rings gave him a little distinction from the rest of the band.  Ringo was always a man who marched to a different drummer.
Looking much younger than his 70 years, Ringo visited New York City's Times Square today at the noon hour.  Outside of the Hard Rock Cafe, he was joined by family, friends, and fans.  He lead the crowd in a simple three word salute:  Peace & Love.  The message was then to have spread throughout the world by saying it outloud, signing, posting it online, and tweeting it.  Fans are being encouraged to share their Peace & Love Celebration with Ringo by sending messages to him either on the Beatles Twitter page or their Facebook page.
Diane Sawyer conducted a brief interview with Ringo about this big birthday.  To see the video that was done via Skype, go to the Billboard.com site.
Happy Birthday, dear Ringo, and Peace & Love.  After all is said and done, love IS all you need.
